Sugar Paper

I love seeing letterpress used on items beyond invitations. Sugar Paper offers a fresh line of stationery that’s hip and fun gives a nod to vintage.

The Chelsea Silhoutte is a fave:

The Artisan Press

Today’s showcase piece comes from The Artisan Press in Australia.

I like unusual pieces. Give me a design that features some interesting colors or materials, please!

Artisan hits the mark with this piece. It’s a four-part wedding invitation that features a cover, invite, tear-away reply card, and map. The bamboo cord binding is playful and clever. The colors are fun and vibrant. Very cool!

What Is Letterpress - Apparently, I Don’t Know

I had two emails this morning about the “What Is Letterpress” blurb on the site. Both pointed out that my information about the letterpress process was incomplete … and it is. I’m not an expert on letterpress, nor have I claimed to be. The WIL sectiton can use an updating and I’ll look into writing something more comprehensive when time allows.

To the jerkwad who felt it best to be condescending and rude in his email missive : If you want to educate someone, there are more tactful ways of doing so.

For those of you looking for a better description of letterpress, there are are some great links under “Links” in the right column.

Letterpress Documentary

Curious about how letterpressed pieces are made? Check out this very nice 6-minute documentary filmed at Firefly Press. The film was made by Chuck Kraemer.

Plume Letterpress

To kick off the iloveletterpress showcase, I bring you this beauty by Plume Press.

This is a case where more is more. I’m generally not ga-ga over overly ornate designs, but this one is really stunning.

Plume is based in Oakland, California.

Directory Update

I’ve updated the directory since the move the move to the new site. There are now 150+ letterpress designers & studios represented. The list doubled. Wow!

I’m delighted that letterpress has become so popular and that more hip designers are coming to the market.

A Quick Introduction

Welcome!

ILoveLetterpress began in 2003 as a small directory of letterpress wedding invitation designers called the “Letterpress Obsession” list. The list has received over 100,000 visitors and I get numerous questions about letterpress every month. I’ve created this site to expand on the directory and to bring you a showcase of the awesome talent in the letterpress stationery universe.

Please feel free to join the forums, suggest a site, or leave a comment about letterpress goodness featured here.

Cheers,
K
